چکیده

The chromosome numbers and karyotypes of five species the genus Iris distributed in Turkey were analyzed. These taxa are I. aucheri (Baker) Sealy, reticulata var. M. Bieb., persica L., peshmeniana Güner & T. Hall, sarii Schott ex Baker. Two them (I. sari peshmeniana) endemic Turkey. studied determeined as 2n=18 persica), 2n=20 sari), 2n=24 aucheri), 2n=36 reticulata). Haploid lengths varied from 53.45 µm persica) to 130.78 reticulata) among species. Karyotype analysis indicated that generally have median (m), submedian (sm), subterminal (st) chromosomes. In addition, only has two terminal (T) pairs. karyotype was determined for first time.

Karyotype Analyses of Four Astragalus L. (fabaceae) Species from Turkey

Astragalus L. is a perennial herbaceous genus belonging to the family Fabaceae. Chromosome morphology was defined for the first time in four species of Astragalus namely; A. antalyensis A.Duran & Podlech, A. nezaketae A.Duran & Aytaç, A. cariensis Boiss. & A. schizopterus Boiss. All species contained diploid chromosome numbers of 2n = 16. However, polyploid cells (4x = 32) were also observed in...

Antimicrobial Activity of Five Endemic Asperula Species from Turkey

In this study, methanol and ether extracts of five endemic Asperula species (Rubiaceae) from Turkey (A. antalyensis, A. brevifolia, A. pseudochlorantha, A. purpurea subsp. apiculata and A. serotina), used in the traditional system of medicine, were tested for antimicrobial activity by the agar well diffusion method and the broth dilution method. The most active species were Asperula brevifolia ...

Karyotype analysis of chub, Squalius cephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Teleostei: Cyprinidae) from Karasu River, Erzurum, Turkey

The karyotypic characteristics of   chub, Squalius cephalus have been investigated by examining metaphase chromosomes spreads obtained from gill and kidney tissues. The fish used in the study were caught with fishing nets from Dumlu Stream, one of the main tributaries of the Karasu River. The live fish were transported to the laboratory,  kept in a well aerated aquarium before analysis and then...
